Microrrelatos 3.

A nightmare in Hell

The night was warm and bright. An enormous full moon dominated the night sky. One night too beautiful to die. How had he come to this?

Two weeks ago he had heard disturbing reports on TV about a strange virus that was spreading through Asia: " The dead walk among us! Doomsday is coming!", had said the presenter. Then, everything had sounded like a macabre joke, as something impossible to believe. But now it was real, and here they were, in the street iluminated by the moon. He could see them through his window.

The virus was a plague and the human race his host. The lucky victims were devoured, their flesh consumed. The rest would become one of them: putrid and carnivorous monsters. "I will not be their victim!", he thought.

Suddenly, a loud noise attracted his attention. They were going up the stairs! There were too many. He couldn´t survive. Tic-tac, tic-tac. He could hear how his time was ending. Tic-tac, tic-tac. He was going crazy with the sound. Tic-tac, tic-tac. His despair was total. They were already on the other side of the door. Tic-tac, tic-tac. He could hardly breathe. Tic-tac, tic-tac. It was the only bullet in his gun… Riiiiiiinnnnnnngggggg…!

Sweaty and shocked he jumped up on his bed. "Oh my Good! What a terrible nightmare!", he thought. He drank a glass of water and looked out of the window. A beautiful moon lit the street… where a crowd of pale faces were expecting… fresh flesh.

Yes, it had been a nightmare… but he still continued in Hell.
